Impact Story: Rosnay Rodriguez

Hi, I'm Freya, and this summer, I'm a marketing and communications intern at KHCC! KHCC is filled with so many hardworking, smiling faces, and I wanted to showcase a few of them in honor of the 45th Anniversary.

Below, I have interviewed and photographed Rosnay (Roz) Rodriguez, Assistant Program Coordinator and Family Advocate, for the "IMPACT STORIES" series.

**************

How did you find KHCC?

"I live across the street, and I needed an after school for my daughter. It started whenever the kiddos went to the Women’s March. Sadie and I would speak frequently on the progress of my daughter, and slowly, but surely, they were going to the pride parade I was always down to go. Then I quit my job and went back to school, and that’s when Sadie told me about the opportunity at KHCConnect."

Why have you stayed at KHCC?

"I don’t have a reason to go. The team I work with closely and the agency, in general, really do care about this community and making those around them better."

What’s one of your favorite memories from your time here?

"It would definitely have to be the first Women's March. It was great to share the experience with my daughter and have her see that we unfortunately need to fight for equal rights, start nurturing that sense of activism, being a global citizen, and doing things for others and not just for yourself from that one experience. We’re a lot more involved and with other causes."

What have you learned through being here?

"Not to quickly judge a person or situation and to be more socially aware of the things that are happening around us."

Where is your favorite place on site and why?

"It would have to be the garden because it's a little getaway from the city feel. I like nature, whenever I’m around nature I feel more at ease."
