Summer Intern Reflection: Chelsea Asare

My name is Chelsea, and this Summer, I captured significant moments at Kingsbridge Heights Community Center in the Bronx as the Marketing and Communications intern.

As a Bronx native, this was very important to me because I did not know about KHCC before coming here. I was not aware of the safe spaces and services that were provided to Bronx residents. For six weeks, I utilized my social media skills to enhance promotion of the programs and services. I also assisted with advertising, communications, and the creation of new content. I found it to be a great opportunity to sharpen my skills and also gain new ones. The experience was very insightful and valuable to me. I was able to receive both personal and professional development at KHCC.

Most importantly, I was able to get first-hand advice from Ngozi, the Marketing and Communications Manager, who also has a background in journalism. I will be leaving here feeling confident in the work I plan to pursue and definite that I want to work in the Media and Entertainment field.

I would like to express so much gratitude to Pencil, the organization that provided me with the opportunity to work at KHCC.
