Kingsbridge Heights Community Center To Host Annual Neighborhood Festival

BRONX, NYApril 24, 2019 – Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC) will host the annual Neighborhood Festival on Saturday, May 18, 2019. The free event, scheduled to take place from 11am – 4pm, will be held in the street outside of KHCC’s main site at 3101 Kingsbridge Terrace.

“Every year, we look forward to hosting this beautiful festival for KHCC’s families and members of our diverse community,” said Margaret Della, KHCC’s Executive Director. “As we celebrate 45 years of service in the Bronx, this year’s event will give festival-goers the opportunity to celebrate this milestone and give back to the agency through fun, engaging activities.”

The Neighborhood Festival will feature a variety of family-friendly activities, including games, sports, robotics, face painting, and a flea market. Through a service-learning partnership with Horace Mann School, families will visit the Horace Mann campus to participate in literacy activities, and children will receive free books. Beginning at one o’clock in the afternoon, volunteers interested in gardening can help care for the KHCC garden and park by weeding, planting seeds and treating the soil.

There will also be special live performances highlighting the cultures of KHCC’s surrounding community as well as a dance party with music from Bronx-based collective Uptown Vinyl Supreme. Attendees can enjoy flavorful BBQ; participate in a raffle for great prizes; learn about our space rental opportunities; register to vote; get to know KHCC programs.
