Darryl “DMC” McDaniels to Lead Comic Book Workshop for Students at Kingsbridge Heights Community Center

Bronx, NY - Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC) will host a special comic workshop with Hip Hop legend and Comic Book Creator, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels. This two-hour workshop is scheduled for Monday, July 29th from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. The workshop will feature tips on writing, illustration and story generation.

As an honoree at the 2017 “Home Away From Home” benefit, an annual event that raises funds to support over 4,500 Bronx residents including youth and their families, DMC’s overall engagement is inspirational, as he continuously remains involved with the youth here at KHCC.

“DMC is able to create diverse characters in his comic book universe that keeps readers engaged,” said Margaret Della, KHCC Executive Director. “As a kid, DMC played with words, language, imagery through comics - developing his unique style and career. We’re excited for our kids to find play and self expression through this workshop. We’re also grateful for his support of KHCC’s children, youth and families.”

The workshop will offer summer camp participants in grades K-5 an opportunity to share their own comic book ideas and learn more about DMC’s legacy as a hip hop lyricist and comic book creator.
