Applying for high school is a step towards great possibilities. While there are many high schools in the Bronx, there are those that are called specialized high schools. These public high schools, established and run by the New York City Department of Education, serve the needs of academically and artistically gifted students.

Every student transitioning into high school is able to apply to these schools. If your child or you are interested in being admitted to a specialized high school, there will be free information sessions hosted by the NYC Department of Education in March and April. Space is limited and available first-come, first-served.

The information session you will:

  • learn how to use the new online high schools registration tool – MySchools,
  • give parents/guardians an opportunity to learn about the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT),
  • the admissions process,
  • find out about LaGuardia High School auditions, and
  • speak to a NYC Department of Education representative.
