KHCC Paves Parking Lot With Plants

The Kingsbridge Heights Community Center has turned Joni Mitchell's song on its ear. Instead of paving paradise to put up a parking lot, they reclaimed a parking lot to create a community garden.

The Garden is part of KHCC's effort not to focus on just wellness but to create a peaceful space for the community. It is also a way to support healthier eating lifestyle and better nutritional habits, not only for our children but  for our community as well.

With Its raised planting beds, students and community members of all ages - and those who use wheelchairs- could participate in its upkeep of the garden.

KHCC's garden also provides an opportunity to organize more ways to get the community members involved by providing planting plots, yoga, and tai chi classes.
